Description
Canonised in 1083, Saint Gellért is a highly cherished character in Hungary. The monumental statue in bronze is the work of Gyula Jankovits (1904). It stands on the site of the martyrdom, half way up the slope, before a peristyle inspired by the ancient style. Gellért who looks as though he is blessing the city, holds a cross in his raised right hand. At his feet there is a pagan who has been converted . From this spot, the view point is really worth seeing.
