Park of Europe

Name: Park of Europe
Category: Nature and gardens
Location: 1014 Budapest, Hunfalvy utca

Description

The park of Europe (Európaliget) was set up in 1973 to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the foundation of Budapest. The mayors of several European capitals and large cities were invites to come here to planter a tree thus marking the event. Each tree is marked by a plaque stating the city that donated it. A sculpture by Imre Varga shows the musician Zoltán Kodály sitting on a bench. A little further on a balcony offers a beautiful view over Marguerite Isle and Pest.
